Map of Good Deeds
Every time you send or receive a recognition drop, Give River brings that moment to life on the Map of Good Deeds — an animated, location-aware map that shows where acts of recognition are happening across your team. After you post a recognition, you are taken through a short animated sequence that culminates in the map and a snapshot of where you and your team currently stand in the season.
What Triggers the Map Experience
The Map of Good Deeds plays automatically after a recognition event is completed — for example, after you send a drop to a teammate. You do not need to navigate to it manually; it launches as part of the post-recognition flow.
The Animated Sequence
When the map screen opens, the following happens in order:
Drop animation — A running water-drop character plays across the top of the screen for approximately three seconds. This signals that your act of recognition is being recorded.
Camera zoom — The map camera starts close in (zoom level 17) and smoothly pulls back to an overview (zoom level 11), panning across your team's general area. The map is rendered with a slight tilt for a dynamic feel.
UGO appears — Give River's mascot, UGO, appears in the top-right corner of the screen with a motivational quote bubble. The quote is randomly selected from a curated library of encouraging messages.
Season Standings slide up — A bottom card slides up from the bottom of the screen showing your current season standing:
- Charity rank — your organization's charitable giving rank for the current season
- Your rank — your personal rank, shown with your avatar and a rank badge
Quick navigation buttons — Below the standings, three shortcut buttons let you jump directly to:
- River (your River feed)
- Home (the main home screen)
- Rankings (the River Rankings leaderboard)
Auto-dismiss — After approximately four seconds, the map experience closes automatically and you are returned to the main app flow.
Reading the Season Standings Card
| Element | What it means |
|---|---|
| Charity rank card | Your team's overall charitable rank in the current season |
| Your rank card | Your individual rank among all participants in the current season |
| Rank badge | A numbered badge showing your exact position |
| Avatar | Your profile photo, confirming the rank is yours |
Map Markers
The map displays markers indicating locations where team members have posted recognitions. Marker density shows where recognition activity is most concentrated geographically. If your organization operates across multiple offices or regions, you can see which locations are most active.
UGO and Motivational Quotes
UGO is Give River's animated mascot character, rendered using Rive animation. Each appearance during the Map of Good Deeds shows a different motivational quote drawn randomly from the app's quote library. These quotes celebrate good deeds, encourage continued engagement, and reinforce your team's culture of recognition.

Tips
- The map experience is brief by design — it celebrates your action and returns you to the app quickly.
- If you want to explore the rankings in depth after seeing your season standing, tap the Rankings shortcut button before the screen auto-dismisses.
- The map uses your device's location services to center the camera. If location permissions are not granted, the camera defaults to a general view.
- Season standings shown on the map reflect your rank at the moment of the recognition, not in real time after other activity.
