How It Works

Caption This runs in two phases:

1. Write — an image prompt appears and you type a caption for it. Everyone writes at the same time, hidden from each other.
2. Vote — the captions are shown (without names), and everyone votes for the one they like best. You can't vote for your own.

When the host closes the round, captions are ranked by votes, authors are revealed, and Drops (if configured) are shared out according to the votes each caption earned.

Where You'll Play

Caption This is a live, in-room game — it's designed to be run by a host during a group video event, where the image, the writing timer, and the voting all happen together on screen.

Playing a Round

Phase 1 — Write your caption

1. When the host starts the round, the image prompt appears with a text box and a countdown.
2. Type your caption and tap Submit. Keep it short and punchy — you're writing for laughs and votes.
3. Once you submit, you're locked in for that prompt and you wait for voting to open.

Phase 2 — Vote

1. The host opens voting and the captions appear anonymously.
2. Tap the caption you think is best. You get one vote per prompt, and you can't vote for your own.
3. When the host reveals results, you'll see the captions ranked by votes with their authors, the winner highlighted, and any Drops you earned.

Rules and Limits

• One caption per prompt and one vote per prompt. You can't vote for yourself.
• You can only write while the writing phase is open, and only vote while voting is open — the host controls when each phase starts and ends.
• Rewards are shared out by votes, so the funnier your caption plays with the room, the more you earn (up to the game's set reward budget).

Tips

• Be quick and clever. The writing timer is short — your first funny instinct usually beats an overthought line.
• Play to the room. Inside jokes and shared context tend to win votes.
• Vote generously. The reveal is more fun when everyone's taken part.
