Who Can Create River Runs?

River Run creation is an admin-only capability. Individual employees cannot create their own River Runs at this time. User-created River Runs are planned for a future release.

Admins access the River Run management tools from the Admin panel > Engage section.

Creating a New River Run

River Run creation uses a two-tab workflow: Basic Info and Lessons (Streams).

Step 1: Open the Create Page

  1. In the Admin panel, navigate to Engage.
  2. Find the River Runs section and tap or click Create New River Run.
  3. The create page opens on the Basic Info tab.

Step 2: Fill In Basic Info

Complete the following fields:

Field Required Description
Title Yes The name of the River Run shown to employees
Description / Summary No A short overview of what the run covers
Thumbnail image Recommended Cover image displayed on run cards
Category / Sub-category No Used for filtering in the library
Instructor name & image No The person credited as the run's creator
Start / end dates No Optionally restrict when the run is available
Status Yes Draft, Active, or Deactivated
  1. Tap Save (or the equivalent save button). The River Run is created and you are automatically moved to the Lessons tab.

Step 3: Add Sections and Streams (Lessons)

River Runs are organized into Sections (groupings), each containing one or more Streams (individual lessons).

To add a section:

  1. On the Lessons tab, tap Add Section.
  2. Enter a section title and save.
  3. Sections can be reordered using the sort/drag interface.

To add a Stream to a section:

  1. Inside a section, tap Add Lesson.
  2. A modal dialog opens. Fill in:
Field Required Notes
Lesson Type Yes Video, Audio, Text, Other, or Quiz
Title Yes Name of the Stream
Description No Brief summary of what the Stream covers
Duration Yes Format: HH:MM:SS (e.g., 00:05:00 for 5 minutes)
Content No Body text or notes for text-type Streams
Video URL If video type Link to YouTube, Vimeo, or hosted file
Audio URL If audio type Link to audio file
Document URL No Additional resource link (PDF, etc.)
Release Rule Yes Controls when the Stream unlocks (see below)
  1. Tap Add Lesson to save.

Release Rules (Drip Settings):

Rule Behavior
Immediately Available Stream is unlocked as soon as the previous one is completed
Sequential Release Stream unlocks after the learner completes the previous Stream
Time-Based Release Stream unlocks after a set delay (format: Day:Hour:Minute, e.g., 0:2:30)
Manual Release Admin manually controls when the Stream unlocks

Adding a Quiz Stream

Quizzes are a special Stream type. When you select Quiz as the lesson type:

  1. Save the lesson first.
  2. From the Lessons tab, open the quiz lesson and use the Add Quiz option to create the quiz structure:
    • Quiz title (required)
    • Section assignment (required)
    • Duration (optional timer; set to 00:00:00 to disable)
    • Total marks (required)
    • Instructions (optional)
    • Status: Active, Deactivated, or Draft
  3. After creating the quiz, add individual questions using the question editor. Questions can be multiple choice, single choice, open-ended, scale, or description type.

Editing an Existing River Run

  1. In the Engage > River Runs list, find the run and tap Edit.
  2. The same two-tab interface opens. Both tabs are accessible immediately when editing.
  3. Make changes to Basic Info or Lessons and save each section.

Wizard Reliability Improvements

A couple of recent wizard fixes that make custom creation smoother:

  • Basic Info now persists across tab switches. If you fill in title, description, image, etc. on the Basic Info tab, then jump to the Lessons tab and back, your inputs are still there. Previously the form could reset on tab switch.
  • Inline validation errors clear when you fix them. When a field shows a red error (e.g., required field missing) and you correct the value, the error message disappears immediately instead of lingering until you re-submit.

User-Created River Runs

User-created River Runs are not yet available. Only admins can create and publish River Runs in the current version. This feature is planned for a future release.
