Journal

Your Give River Journal is a private, chronological record of everything you have done on the platform. It is visible only to you and captures your recognition activity automatically — no manual writing required.

What the Journal Records

Every significant action you take is logged as a journal entry. Entry types include:

Entry type What it shows
Post created Your recognition post, with photo or video if attached
Daily drop A post made in response to a daily challenge prompt
Posted in challenge A post made inside a specific River Run challenge
Badge earned The badge image and title
Gift received The gift image and the sender's username
Gift sent The gift image and the recipient's username
Cause chosen The cause name and cover image
Charity chosen The charity name and cover image
Competition joined The competition title and cover image

How Entries Are Organized

Entries are grouped by date. A circular date marker (showing the day number and month abbreviation) appears above the first entry of each new day, with the time shown below it. This makes it easy to scroll back and find what you did on a specific date.

Accessing Your Journal

From My River:

  1. Scroll to the My Journal section near the bottom of the My River screen.
  2. Tap See All to open the full journal in a dialog overlay.

From the Settings menu:

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Tap My Journal in the Connect section.
  3. The full journal screen opens.

Managing Journal Entries

Tap the three-dot menu icon on any post-type entry to open an action menu with options to:

  • Make Public / Make Private — toggle the visibility of that recognition post on the main feed.
  • Share Post — share the post image or video externally (images use a screenshot, videos are downloaded first).
  • Delete Post — permanently remove the post. This action cannot be undone.

Non-post entries (badges, gifts, cause joins) do not have an action menu because they are system-generated records.

Leaderboards in the Journal Screen

The journal screen also includes All Rivers leaderboard data, showing:

  • Causes leaderboard — ranked by drop count, available for the current week, month, or season.
  • Charities leaderboard — same time periods.
  • Recent Runners — teammates who have recently completed River Runs.

These leaderboards update each time the journal screen is opened.

On the web app, the Journal has a dedicated URL: /my-journal. Bookmark it (or share it with yourself across devices) to jump straight to the journal view without going through the Home feed. Previously this URL fell back to the Home feed; that's been fixed and the route now opens the Journal screen directly.

Privacy

Journal entries are private to you. Posts within the journal can be individually set to public or private (see Privacy Settings), but the journal view itself is never visible to other users.
