Gamified Welcome Wizard

The first time you sign up for Give River, you'll be taken through a four-screen animated welcome wizard. This guided experience introduces how drops work, sets up your device permissions, and gets you ready to participate in your team's recognition culture.

The wizard appears once — right after your first successful sign-in. It does not appear on subsequent logins.

The Four Screens

Screen 1 — Act & Tap

The opening screen shows an illustrated character and explains the core mechanic: you tap to add a drop whenever you witness kindness or generosity on your team.

At this point, Give River will ask for permission to send you push notifications. Allowing notifications means you'll be alerted when someone recognizes you or drops on your posts. You can choose to allow or skip this step.

Screen 2 — Location

Give River optionally uses your location to surface team activity happening nearby. On this screen you'll be prompted to allow location access.

Granting location access is optional. You can allow or skip it and adjust your preference later in your device settings.

Screen 3 — How It Works

A third slide continues the walkthrough, reinforcing how the give-and-receive recognition loop works and what drops represent in your team's culture.

Screen 4 — Better Together

The final screen features the "Better Together" illustration and a Let's Go button.

  • Tapping Let's Go on first signup takes you to the Causes List, where you choose the charitable cause your earned drops will support.
  • If you return to this wizard from another entry point (not first signup), tapping Let's Go takes you to the Home feed.

The wizard uses a smooth swipe animation between screens. You can:

  • Swipe left to advance to the next screen
  • Wait for the auto-advance on certain screens
  • Tap Let's Go on the final screen to complete the wizard

There is no back button — the wizard is designed to move forward. If you swipe past a permission prompt, you can grant those permissions later through your device's Settings app.

What Comes Next

After completing the wizard (and selecting a cause if this is your first signup), Give River will show you one-time contextual guide popups as you explore features for the first time — for example, a guide when you first visit the River feed, and a consent reminder before starting your first River Run. These only appear once each.
