What Each Role Can Do

User

Regular team members. Users can:

  • Send drops to colleagues to recognize their contributions
  • View and react to the team recognition feed
  • Access their My River personal dashboard
  • Write and read their private journal
  • Chat in group channels and direct messages
  • Earn badges, stickers, and awards
  • Manage their own profile and privacy settings
  • Configure their notification and email preferences

Manager

Managers have all User capabilities. In the current build, manager-specific permissions are being expanded. If your organization has granted manager-level access, contact your administrator to confirm which additional actions are available to you.

Admin

Admins have full access to everything users and managers can do, plus the Rewards Dashboard at /admin-rewards. From there, admins can manage:

  • Drop Defaults — set the default number of drops assigned to recognition actions
  • Milestones — create and edit milestone thresholds that trigger automatic rewards
  • Awards — create and manage award types that can be granted to users
  • Custom Rewards — configure bespoke reward items specific to your organization
  • Gift Cards — set up gift card reward options for users to redeem
  • Badges — create team badges from templates or custom designs, and configure the triggers that award them automatically

Admins also have access to team-level settings, the ability to invite new members, and (for super users) the ability to switch between multiple teams.

Checking Your Role

Your role is set by your organization's administrator. To find out your current role, contact your admin or check the Settings screen — the options visible to you reflect your permissions. If you should have admin access but cannot see the Rewards Dashboard, ask your administrator to verify your role assignment.
