Feed Sort and Filter
Give River gives you two ways to control what appears in your Home Feed: Sort (how posts are ordered) and Filters (which posts are included). Together they let you quickly focus on the recognition content most relevant to you.
Sorting the feed
The feed defaults to Recent order (newest posts first). To change the sort:
- The current sort mode is applied automatically when the feed loads.
- To change it, open the Sort By sheet (when available via the sort button) or use the Filter panel (see below).
- Select a sort option and the feed reloads immediately.
Available sort options:
| Option | Description |
|---|---|
| Recent | All team posts, sorted by newest first (default) |
| Following | Posts only from people you follow, sorted by newest first |
Filtering the feed
The Filter button (funnel icon) sits at the top right of the feed. It opens a unified filter dialog where you can set multiple filters at once before applying them.
To apply filters:
- Tap the Filter button.
- The filter dialog opens with two sections: Filter by tag and Location.
- Make your selections (see below).
- Tap Apply Filters to reload the feed with those filters active.
To clear all filters:
- Tap Clear All in the filter dialog footer, or
- Open the filter dialog and tap Apply Filters with nothing selected.
Filter: Filter by tag
The Filter by tag section shows all the core values tags your admin has set up for your team. Each chip displays the tag's emoji and #name, tinted with the tag's color.
- Tap a tag chip to select it (it highlights in the primary color).
- Only one tag can be active at a time — tapping a second tag deselects the first.
- Tap an already-selected tag to deselect it.
- When active, the feed shows only posts that include that
#hashtag.
Filter: Location
The Location section lists the office locations configured for your team.
- Tap one or more location chips to select them.
- Multiple locations can be active simultaneously — the feed shows posts from any of the selected locations.
- Tap an active location to deselect it.
Filter badge:
When filters are active, the Filter button changes color and a small badge shows the total count of active filters (each selected tag counts as 1, each selected location counts as 1).
Combining sort and filters
Sort and filters work independently and can be combined:
- You can show Following posts filtered by #innovation in Location: London.
- Sort mode controls the order; filters control which posts qualify.
Quick tag filtering from a post
You can also filter by a tag without opening the filter dialog:
- Tap any
#hashtagtext inside a post to jump directly to a feed view filtered to that tag.
Resetting to default
To return to the default unfiltered recent feed:
- Open the Filter dialog.
- Tap Clear All.
- The sort mode resets to Recent and all location and tag filters are removed.
Tips
- Filters persist for your current session. If you navigate away and return to the feed, previously applied filters may still be active — check the filter badge.
- If the Filter by tag section shows a loading spinner, your team's tags are still fetching. Wait a moment and reopen the filter dialog.
- If no locations appear in the Location section, your administrator has not yet configured any locations for your team.
