Three Ways to Give Drops
Method 1 — The Apps Menu
- Open Give River. In any Teams chat or channel, click the + icon in the message compose area.
- Select Give River from the list of available apps.
- Fill in the Give Drops form:
- Users — select the teammate or teammates you want to recognize
- Message — write a personal message explaining the recognition
- Company Values — choose the values that apply
- Drops — select how many drops to give (1–5)
- Private — check this if the recognition should be visible only to you and the recipient
- Submit to send your recognition.
Method 2 — Drop Emojis and @ Mentions
Inside a chat window:
- Type @ to mention a team member.
- Add a note describing why you are sharing drops.
- Choose the emoji icon to add a drop emoji.
Method 3 — Quick Drop Response
When someone receives drops, a notification appears in the channel with an Add your 💧 button. Click it to quickly give drops to the person mentioned, and include a note describing why.
What Recognition Looks Like in Teams
When drops are given, Teams displays a message showing:
- Who received the drops
- How many drops they received, shown with 💧 emojis
- Who gave the drops
- An option for others to add their own drop
Tracking Your Impact
To see your giving and receiving history, open your personal dashboard in the Give River app, where you can view drops given and drops received.
Tips
- Be specific. Mention the actual action or achievement when giving drops.
- Give in context. Send drops in the channel where the great work happened.
- Connect it to values. Tie recognition to your organization's core values.
- Celebrate small wins too. Daily contributions matter as much as big milestones.
- Make it personal. A meaningful message lands better than a generic one.
