Give River for Microsoft Teams: Installation Guide

Overview

The Give River extension for Microsoft Teams integrates employee recognition and team-building capabilities into the MS Teams environment. It enables teams to exchange recognition and participate in challenges without leaving Teams. The platform uses industry-standard security measures and complies with data protection regulations.

Prerequisites

Before installation, ensure you have:

  • An active Give River account and organizational subscription
  • Microsoft Teams installed and configured
  • Administrator rights to the Microsoft Teams environment
  • Microsoft Teams version 1.4.00 or higher
  • A supported browser (Edge, Chrome, Firefox, Safari)

Installation Process

1. Access Microsoft Teams Admin Center

  • Log into the Microsoft Teams Admin Center
  • Navigate to "Teams apps" > "Manage apps"

2. Install the Give River App

  • Search for "Give River" in the Microsoft Teams app store
  • Select the application
  • Click "Add to Team" in the column header
  • Click "Apply" to complete installation
  • Select the team(s) for installation (search for team names if needed in the Teams Application interface)

3. Connect the Give River Teams App to Your Give River Account

  • Open the Microsoft 365 Teams App
  • Access "Chats" and tap "Connect Your Team" in the Give River message
  • Enter your Team ID and Team Token in the popup window
  • Note: Retrieve credentials by logging into www.giveriver.app with administrator access, then navigate to Settings > Integrations > MS Teams Workspace
  • Confirm successful connection or contact support if errors occur

4. Connect the Give River Teams App to Teams Channels

  • Tap the "Apps" icon at the sidebar bottom
  • Under "Built for your organization," tap "Open" on the Give River card
  • Search for and select individual channels to add the extension
  • Note: Channels must be added individually due to Microsoft Teams limitations

5. Verify Installation

  • Navigate to a channel with Give River installed
  • Tap "Start a Post"
  • Tap the "+" icon in the lower left
  • Search for and select Give River from the popup window
